Time Out With TaLynn Kel - Children’s Book Edition
Welcome to another edition of Time Out with TaLynn Kel. This week, we’re talking with the creators of children’s books!
While I don’t have any children, I can appreciate content that encourages children to embrace themselves, “flaws and all.” Learning that we are good enough is a strong lesson, one I still feel like I’m learning today. That these two creators are sharing this message both to empower themselves and others is an amazing thing to witness.
Our first interview is with Natalie McGriff, author of The Adventures of Moxie McGriff. This story was written in direct rebuttal to the idea that dark brown girls with natural hair aren’t special. Natalie learned that she was important and special, not despite these attributes but because all of them make her who she is. But don’t listen to me, let Natalie tell you how The Adventures of Moxie McGriff came to be.
The second interview is with Julia Davis, the creator of the I Love Me book series. Julia began this series in 2014 looking to create a series that celebrates our differences and how they enrich everyone’s lives.
