It can be an intimidating yet here you are in all your curvy glory slaying the game because nobody tells me what I can and can’t do.

Gaslighting 101 - Protecting Yourself in Toxic Fandoms
Feeling as though you are part of a fandom can be complicated, especially when identity politics favors some identities so completely that people don’t realize who they aren’t seeing. Often, those of us in marginalized communities find ourselves under attack for seeking or creating spaces that represent us. We find ourselves in emotionally challenging situations without understanding how we got there. And often, it’s because of gaslighting.
This workshop will explain what gaslighting is and help you recognize this manipulation tactic used to silence marginalized voices in fandom. This panel will provide you with information and tools to empower you as you make space for yourself in geek culture.
We will discuss real world examples of how this tactic is used and provide ways to wither avoid or take control of conversations that otherwise would leave you feeling confused and compromised. This will be an interactive experience, but participation is not mandatory.
